The wait is over! For the first time in football history, the FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, features not one, but a trio of mascots. This iconic lineup was designed to represent the cultural diversity and the unified spirit of the North American continent.

Who are the 2026 World Cup Mascots?

FIFA has introduced three distinct characters, each embodying the heritage and footballing philosophy of its host nation. Together, they form a "super-team" that reflects the tournament's slogan: "United as One."

1. Maple the Moose (Canada)

Representing the Great White North, Maple is the team's reliable Goalkeeper. Clad in Canada’s iconic red and white, Maple symbolizes resilience and strength. Beyond her shot-stopping abilities, she is a fan of street art and electronic music, bringing a modern Canadian vibe to the tournament.

2. Zayu the Jaguar (Mexico)

From the heart of Mexico comes Zayu, a sleek and agile Forward. Inspired by the sacred animals of ancient Mayan and Aztec cultures, Zayu represents the flair, creativity, and passion of Mexican football. Known for his "bicycle kick" celebrations, Zayu is also an ambassador for traditional Mexican cuisine and dance.

3. Clutch the Eagle (USA)

Representing the United States, Clutch is a Bald Eagle who plays as a Midfielder. Clutch is the engine of the trio, symbolizing freedom, leadership, and the "can-do" American spirit. His role is to connect the play and bring fans together from all 50 states.

Why Three Mascots?

The decision to have a trio reflects the unprecedented scale of the 2026 tournament. With 48 teams competing across 16 host cities, the organizers wanted to ensure that every host nation felt a deep, personal connection to the event's branding.

Beyond the Pitch: Digital Integration

Maple, Zayu, and Clutch aren't just for stadium appearances. FIFA has integrated these characters into the "FIFA Heroes" digital universe, allowing fans to play as their favorite mascots in exclusive mobile games and augmented reality (AR) experiences across host cities.
